JOHN'S FIRST TATTOO

A Surrealist Short Film by Jett Kowalchuk

John adjourns from his mundane life in order to get his first tattoo. His walk-in takes a turn when the parlour he visits promises more than just ink on skin.

John’s First Tattoo is a surrealist short film that utilizes live-action footage, digital art and VFX.The absence of dialogue highlights the unspoken dichotomy between bare-skin and ink-stained individuals. Therefore, the focus is on visual storytelling, depicting a narrative purely through sound and image. The film is about the transformative process of receiving your first tattoo, but it also speaks to the universal experience of leaving comfort zones.
